Fine traditions should be cherished. The Vereniging voor Volksvermaken Roden traditionally organises the neutjesschieten at Onder de Linden every year on Easter Monday. A game for young and old that involves precision and tactics. This year there will be a very special edition of this old Drenthe-Groningen tradition; the North Dutch Neutji Shooting Championship!

On the way to the hotel and restaurant, you may have seen the sign; "Roden. The village of Ot and Sien." Roden, Ot and Sien and Hindericus Scheepstra are often mentioned in the same breath. Hindrikus Scheepstra, born in Roden in 1859, was a Dutch teacher and writer. He wrote the Dutch children's stories of Ot and Sien as reading material for primary schools.

Onder de Linden is the perfect base for hiking around Roden. Within a few minutes you can walk into the vast Mensingen forest. From there, you can take a short stroll through the Sterrebos or perhaps go for a long walk through the Kop van Drenthe. Once back, you can stop by Onder de Linden for a delicious snack and drink. Onder de Linden is officially Kwaremont Koerse Kaffee
Since 2019, we have officially been Kwaremont Koerse Kaffee. Unfortunately, due to corona, we have not given much expression to this until now. Together with eatery Family Appelscha and BHV Roden, we sponsor our first cycling/mountain biking team. They proudly wear the Kwaremont cycling jersey.

Besides the standard ways of exploring the area such as on foot or by bike, there are also other, adventurous ways to enjoy the surroundings. Drenthe is a beautiful province and has plenty to offer. From the three (!) National Parks to beautiful museum villages. Drenthe is the province to explore by bike. You cycle through nature reserves, cosy villages and discover historical sites. But all this is hard to do in one day. Make a weekend of it and combine the cycling trip with an overnight stay in our hotel in Drenthe.

This year, we have been approached again and by the RTL4 programme "Onderweg naar de Regio". After an extensive intake, the time has come on 7 September. Erik Burgers travelled to beautiful Roden together with his cameraman. A day etched in our memory.
