Green Key certificate
Green Key is the largest sustainability label for the tourism and leisure industry and is part of the international Foundation for Environmental Education. This global environmental education organisation has more than 100 member organisations in 81 countries and is the founder of the Green Key certificate. The Green Key label aims to care for and create awareness of nature, environment and sustainability. Green Key is therefore about a company's sustainability.
Companies with a Green Key seal of approval do all they can to preserve the environment without their guests compromising on comfort and quality. In doing so, they go a step further than normal laws and regulations require. To carry the Green Key seal of approval, businesses must meet various sustainability standards, divided into 12 themes. These 12 themes are:
- Management
- Communications
- Social commitment
- Water
- Cleaning
- Waste
- Energy
- Construction and greenery
- Mobility
- Food and drink
- Sustainable procurement
- Textiles
The sustainability standards are set by the Foundation for Environmental Education and are checked periodically by an independent inspector. The certificate has three levels: bronze, silver and gold. The more environmental measures a recreation company has implemented, the higher the 'environmentally friendly' level. We are proud to announce that we hold the Green Key certificate gold!
What you notice as a guest of the Green Key certificate
An important part of the Green Key certificate is that you, the guest, are not inconvenienced by the sustainable actions we undertake. And no, you are not expected to constantly take nature and the environment into account during your stay. On the contrary: you will probably enjoy your holiday even more with the idea in the back of your mind that you are acting in an environmentally friendly way. At Onder de Linden, we have found a solid balance between sustainable entrepreneurship and comfort.
We work a lot with local entrepreneurs, which means that our menu features many local products. This is not only socially responsible, but also crisp and delicious! But there is more: from sustainable toilet paper 'the good roll' to energy-efficient appliances. And from atmospheric LED lighting to charging points for electric bikes. Even the tyre extinguishers are filled with ECO-foam and are eco-labelled. And as for your comfort? We use water sparingly, but in such a way that you can still enjoy a nice, hot shower after a long day. You won't get too hot or too cold anytime soon, as we make sure the heating is on or off at the right times. This not only promotes your feeling of comfort, but also the status of nature and the environment!
We also score high on the theme of social commitment. We are committed to the region in order to give substance to Rust, Ruimte en Reuring. We facilitate new initiatives in Roden and the surrounding area by working together with the cultural sector, among others. For instance, we are initiators of the Heritage Route Roden. A walking route along the cultural heritage in Roden. In this way, we not only create value and goodwill for our own organisation, but also add value to society and the local environment. In the coming period, we will work with our 'green team' to build on the basis laid here.
