Hotel Onder de Linden values the opinion of its guest and therefore reads every review. As a team, we regularly spot the same comments/tips in these reviews. Something we are grateful to our guests for. After all, every 'complaint' is a free tip. In this post, we share with you the main points we have already addressed.

Bathroom

'The bathroom is a bit dated' is a common comment in reviews. We understand that and we are working hard on it. All dated bathrooms are on the list to be renovated as part of our sustainability plan. This is because we feel very strongly about sustainability and give it top priority. Our luxury rooms are already equipped with a new bathroom and private seating area. You can book this luxury room for only two euros more.

Coffee & tea

In some reviews we read: 'We missed coffee/tea facilities in our room or in the corridor'. Of course, nothing beats a nice cup of fresh coffee or tea after checking in or after a good night's sleep. Our deluxe rooms - you can book these for just €20 more than a comfort room - have coffee/tea facilities in addition to a new bathroom and private seating area. In these rooms, you can make yourself a cup of coffee or tea at your leisure. Of course, we prefer to see you downstairs to enjoy a nice cup of coffee, tea or something else tasty.

Horny

'It didn't bother me personally, but it was quite noisy in the corridor,' wrote one of our guests. 'The room was quite noisy' and 'Perhaps the other guests didn't know that it can be noisy in the corridor?' Yes, we acknowledge this too and have been working hard in the background to find a suitable solution. We found this in Acomo Acoustic Spray System. The optimal sound absorption of Acomo® reduces reverberation and creates perfect acoustics. Acomo® consists of cellulose flakes and is a 100% recycled product. The soundproofing spray is applied with special machines and glue for perfect adhesion. Acomo® is moisture-resistant and fire-resistant. It will be applied to the ceiling of the hotel corridor on 4 January 2023.

Air conditioning

Several guests, especially in summer 2022, indicated to us that it was hot in the room and that they would like to have air conditioning, for example. Meanwhile, we as a hotel have invested in air conditioners that work with water and cooling elements. These can be added for a small fee. Perhaps a complete air-conditioning system will follow in the future. But given the current and in the past rather difficult period for the hospitality industry, we know this way to offer our guests a fitting and beautiful solution.

We thank our guests for the reviews we received. Both positive and less positive reviews. As you have read, we are always open to tips and points for improvement and will work on these wherever possible.

The magic of attention: a signal from a grasshopper

At home, it begins. I walk through the house and watch our kitten Mio. He is focused and alert. On the floor is a green grasshopper. One tap with Mio's paw. A high arc through the air. I feel excitement and fascination at the same time. As if nature comes in for a moment and whispers: look, listen, move with me.

Summer agenda

The Loop of Roden

On Saturday 8 July, the cycling event of the North will again take place. The Loop van Roden is a prominent name on the list of northern criteriums and enjoys national recognition. It also brings with it a lot of Rôner sociability, with packed terraces and a lot of happy faces. Especially on the terrace of Onder de Linden, where you will find a real VIP tent.

North Dutch Neutjee Shooting Championship at Onder de Linden

Fine traditions should be cherished. The Vereniging voor Volksvermaken Roden traditionally organises the neutjesschieten at Onder de Linden every year on Easter Monday. A game for young and old that involves precision and tactics. This year there will be a very special edition of this old Drenthe-Groningen tradition; the North Dutch Neutji Shooting Championship!

From tree to bar table

At Onder de Linden, we value history and the story behind our place. A great example of this is the old lime tree. The iconic lime tree was always an important part of our terrace. Unfortunately, the tree had to be cut down recently. But instead of saying goodbye, we gave it a new purpose: as a robust bar table on our terrace.
