Hiking in the Kop van Drenthe

With the Mensinge forest on your doorstep, hikers are in for a treat. But the north of Drenthe offers more wonderful opportunities for walkers. With vast forests, idyllic heathlands and picturesque villages such as Lieveren, Norg, Peize, Roderesch and Westervelde, the Kop van Drenthe is a paradise for nature lovers. Would you like to add a touch of adventure to your walk? Then ask at our reception for the 'GeoTour Kop van Drenthe brochure'. While walking (or cycling) you will search for Drenthe treasures, so-called geocaches, while you are in the beautiful surroundings of Roden. The GeoTour Kop van Drenthe leads you along special places in the landscape. Here prehistory is literally on the surface. What is geocaching

Geocaching is a popular activity where participants use GPS coordinates and clues to find hidden containers or 'caches' placed in various locations around the world. The caches can vary in size and content, from small boxes to larger containers with logbooks and sometimes even treasures or other surprises.

Geocaching is a fun way to be outdoors and discover new places, while also providing a challenge to solve puzzles and decipher clues to find the caches. It has become a popular hobby with even entire families heading out to find caches.

Canoe hire

Less than 6 kilometres from Hotel Onder de Linden you will find the Leekstermeer. Located in nature reserve De Onlanden, the Leekstermeer is the largest lake in the province of Drenthe. As the water is never really deeper than 1.5 metres, it is very suitable for exploring by paddle.

Suppen on the Leekstermeer

Are you ready to try something new? Then hire a SUP at Cnossen Leekstermeer. The magic of attention: a signal from a grasshopper

The Loop of Roden

On Saturday 8 July, the cycling event of the North will again take place. The Loop van Roden is a prominent name on the list of northern criteriums and enjoys national recognition. It also brings with it a lot of Rôner sociability, with packed terraces and a lot of happy faces. Especially on the terrace of Onder de Linden, where you will find a real VIP tent.

North Dutch Neutjee Shooting Championship at Onder de Linden

Fine traditions should be cherished. The Vereniging voor Volksvermaken Roden traditionally organises the neutjesschieten at Onder de Linden every year on Easter Monday. A game for young and old that involves precision and tactics. This year there will be a very special edition of this old Drenthe-Groningen tradition; the North Dutch Neutji Shooting Championship!

From tree to bar table

At Onder de Linden, we value history and the story behind our place. A great example of this is the old lime tree. The iconic lime tree was always an important part of our terrace. Unfortunately, the tree had to be cut down recently. But instead of saying goodbye, we gave it a new purpose: as a robust bar table on our terrace.
