North Dutch Neutjee Shooting Championship at Onder de Linden
NNK Neutjee Shooting on April 10
The Northern Netherlands Championship will be an event that will have a lot of fun, a bit of competition and a touch of battle, in addition to a lot of fun. Basically neutje shooting as it was once intended! The championship is divided into three categories: youth up to 12 years old, youth from 13 to 17 years old and adult. For each category, there will be prizes for the 3 highest finishers. In addition, the number 1, may call himself North Dutch Champion for a year!
The neutralshooting is also the kick-off of Volksvermaken's season of events. Children participate in the neutralshooting for free and afterwards they all get a tasty Easter bunny to take home. Will you join this Drenthe tradition this year at Onder de Linden?
Explanation of neutral shooting
What exactly is that nut-shooting? The name says it all, it is shooting away nuts. Each participant receives 10 nuts, together they discuss how many nuts to put in each round. These nuts are placed on a straight line and the aim is to shoot these nuts off the line with a steel or stone ball. The one with the most nuts won wins.
Neutjeshooting is played in four rounds, depending on the course of play and participation, the board may decide to change the number of rounds. Participants take turns throwing the nuts, in the first round only thickly shot nuts must be topped, not the pot. In the following rounds, thickly shot nuts must be topped, increased by the number of nuts present in the tray. If, during the course of a round, the row of nuts is exhausted, new nuts will be set up from stock by Volksvermaken. In case of 'thick and thin', no nuts will be added.
Thick and/or thin
Thick and thin nuts, it has nothing to do with the size of the walnuts. It does have to do with where the walnuts have been on the straight. For example, if you hit the back two nuts, you have 'thrown thick'. You may then pick up both nuts, and all the ones lying on the corresponding cross line.
If you hit one or more notes from the middle of the row, without also hitting the back notes, then you have 'thrown thin'. The number of notes you have hit, including those on the corresponding cross lines, must be added to cross lines of your choice. If you cannot meet this, you may withdraw from the game by saying, "I surrender."
If you have hit one or more nuts from the middle of the row and also at least the last one from the row, you have 'thrown thick and thin'. In this case, you win and lose nothing and everything is put back.
If you miss, the following rules apply:
- No nuts need be added in case of mis-throws in the 1st round.
- For mis-throws in the 2nd round, 5 nuts must be added.
- For mis-throws in the 3rd round, 10 nuts must be added.
- For mis-throws in the 4th round, 15 nuts must be added.
Those who, in all cases where notes need to be added, cannot fulfil their obligations will drop out.
