The year 2024 got off to a fantastic start for us. Not only did we receive the Golden Award from the Dutch hospitality awards. We were also rewarded by Booking.com and prolonged the Green Key Gold certificate.

Dutch hospitality prices 2023/2024

We are grateful and happy to have been awarded the Golden Award for the best hotel in Drenthe at the 2023/2024 Dutch hospitality awards ceremony. Thank you to everyone who supports us and is part of our great community!

But that's not all! Our commitment to social employment has been recognised by the professional jury of the Dutch hospitality awards. We won third place in the Social Employer category. Recognition for the way we build our team and interact with them. We believe in the power of diversity and togetherness.

Booking Traveller Review Award

And as if that were not enough, in January we also received Booking.com's Booking Traveller Review Award, with an impressive rating of 8! This confirms that our guests not only enjoy their stay, but also experience the pleasant atmosphere and service that Onder de Linden has to offer.

Green Key Gold

We also managed to prolong our Green Key Gold certification. The requirements for Green Key are further tightened every year. Green Key is a globally recognised seal of approval for the recreation and tourism industry. This prolongation is confirmation of our commitment to sustainability and environmentally conscious and socially responsible business practices. So not only is this good news, but it also highlights our continuous commitment to improvement.

We are consciously concerned with the three Ps: People, Planet, Profit. This is an important part of who we are and what we stand for. Together with you, we like to continue building a greener future for ourselves and future generations and create a positive impact on our environment.

We appreciate your commitment to our plans and are happy to share with you the crowning achievements of our work. That is why we are raving about what else the new year has in store for us. In any case, we have already forged plenty of plans for 2024. A year full of new challenges and opportunities!

The magic of attention: a signal from a grasshopper

At home, it begins. I walk through the house and watch our kitten Mio. He is focused and alert. On the floor is a green grasshopper. One tap with Mio's paw. A high arc through the air. I feel excitement and fascination at the same time. As if nature comes in for a moment and whispers: look, listen, move with me.

Learning is feeling. It goes beyond knowledge or theory. It's in small moments: a look, a breath, a hand falling silent for a moment. As I write this, my shoulders sag and a smile appears. Learning is not just knowing, it is experiencing, moving, trusting.

Summer agenda

With the holidays approaching, we introduce our summer calendar. Even more fun every weekend at Hotel Onder de Linden from 5 July to 5 September 2021.

The Loop of Roden

On Saturday 8 July, the cycling event of the North will again take place. The Loop van Roden is a prominent name on the list of northern criteriums and enjoys national recognition. It also brings with it a lot of Rôner sociability, with packed terraces and a lot of happy faces. Especially on the terrace of Onder de Linden, where you will find a real VIP tent.

North Dutch Neutjee Shooting Championship at Onder de Linden

Fine traditions should be cherished. The Vereniging voor Volksvermaken Roden traditionally organises the neutjesschieten at Onder de Linden every year on Easter Monday. A game for young and old that involves precision and tactics. This year there will be a very special edition of this old Drenthe-Groningen tradition; the North Dutch Neutji Shooting Championship!

From tree to bar table

At Onder de Linden, we value history and the story behind our place. A great example of this is the old lime tree. The iconic lime tree was always an important part of our terrace. Unfortunately, the tree had to be cut down recently. But instead of saying goodbye, we gave it a new purpose: as a robust bar table on our terrace.
